British Airways adds additional Cape Town flights
BA will add an additional flight from Cape Town to London Heathrow during the airline’s winter operating schedule. Beginning October 28 and running until the end of March, 2013, services between Cape Town and Heathrow will double from daily (seven) to 14 a week. The additional services will operate as overnight flights, landing at Heathrow early in the morning. Flights will be serviced with a Boeing B747-400 aircraft.
The London Cape Town schedule will operate as follows:
CPT - LHR
1) Departs Cape Town at 8:45pm and arrives at Heathrow at 6:30am the following morning.
2) Departs Cape Town at 10:10pm and arrives at Heathrow at 7:50am the following morning
LHR - CPT
1) Departs from Heathrow 5:40pm and arrives in Cape Town at 7:05am. On Fridays the flight departs 5 minutes later
2) The second flight departs Heathrow at 7:30pm and arrives in Cape Town at 8:55am the following morning.

Hilton Hotel sees Africa as the next big thing
Hilton Worldwide opened a regional office in Johannesburg last week as the hotel group moved to exploit growth opportunities and develop existing and potential properties across the African continent and the Indian Ocean islands.

Wildlife poachers face new enemy
According to the International Anti-Poaching Foundation, illegal trafficking of wildlife now ranks as the 3rd largest criminal industry in the world. Every year, millions of animals are slaughtered or kidnapped because of the value placed on their pelt, skin, horns, tusks or meat. This industry driven not just by criminals looking to make a quick buck, but also by complex social, economic and environmental issues.
Poaching is at its worst in developing nations where exotic wildlife is plentiful, but conservation officers and regulations are few. That’s why a new high-tech tool recently unveiled at the World Conservation Congress in Jeju, Republic of Korea, could go a long way in the fight against the illegal wildlife trade.
